A practical MCP workflow

Compare EU country statistics with AI and MCP

Connect your agent to ToolCargo’s Eurostat MCP, select up to five EU countries and an explicit year range, then compare the returned observations with their original units and flags. Use the profile tool to place separate indicators beside each other for a single year.

Built for: Research agents preparing source-linked European country comparisons.

What to connect

Create a ToolCargo account and use OAuth or an API key with a supported MCP client. Hosted connectors share your plan’s call quota; connect each required MCP endpoint separately. Review provider permissions before starting.

Run the workflow

  1. 1. Choose countries and a common year range

Use exact EU27 Eurostat country codes, including EL for Greece. Request one to ten consecutive annual years from 1990 through the current year. Do not substitute different years for missing observations.

  2. 2. Read one annual series

Call eurostat_country_series for unemployment_rate, population_jan1 or gdp_current_eur. Retain the country, year, valueState, units, raw source status and flag labels. A missing observation is not zero.

  3. 3. Build a same-year profile

Call eurostat_country_profile for two or three indicators. The source requests run separately; preserve each dataset’s update timestamp. Unemployment is a percentage of the labour force aged 15–74, population is persons on 1 January and GDP is current-price million EUR.

  4. 4. Return the comparison with source context

Cite Eurostat dataset codes, source links and access dates. Disclose ToolCargo’s filtered projection and retain the statement that Eurostat is not responsible for this modified projection. Values and source flags can be revised; matching years do not make units interchangeable or establish causation.

A prompt to try

Use ToolCargo Eurostat to compare DE, FR and EL unemployment_rate for 2022–2024, then request population_jan1 and gdp_current_eur for 2024. Preserve units, source update times, raw flags and labels, missing values and dataset links. Attribute Eurostat, disclose the ToolCargo projection and its non-responsibility statement. Do not infer growth from nominal GDP, replace gaps with zeros or mix denominators.

What a useful result looks like

Country → year → indicator/dataset code → observed value or missing state → unit → flags → source update time → dataset link and access date → projection disclosure.

Know the limits

Three curated annual non-trade datasets and current EU27 countries only. No arbitrary dataset search, forecasts, real growth, PPP, population estimates from occurrence counts or cross-indicator composite scores. Each successful series or profile uses one shared-plan call; a profile reads its selected datasets sequentially without claiming an atomic snapshot.

Common questions

Is GDP a growth rate?

No. gdp_current_eur is GDP at market prices in current-price million EUR. It is not inflation-adjusted growth, GDP per person or purchasing-power parity.

Can I include the United States or all Eurostat countries?

This connector supports current EU27 countries only and three non-trade presets. It does not extend commercial reuse claims to other-country data or arbitrary datasets.

Does an absent flag mean a figure is final?

No. Retain any recorded flag and source label. No flag does not establish finality; source observations can be revised.
