NOAA Coastal Tide Research — tool reference
Read a coastal station before interpreting its predictions.
Server URL: https://toolcargo.com/mcp/noaa-tides · Scope: connector:noaa-tides. Activate Site Audit free and connect through ToolCargo OAuth or a scoped API key. No NOAA account, provider key or paid upstream. Each successful station or prediction page uses one shared-plan call.
noaa_tide_station
{ "stationId": "9414290" }Use an exact seven-digit coastal station ID. Inspect returned station name, state, coordinates and available source timezone and station flags. ToolCargo verifies exact station identity. Abbreviations such as PST or EST are source labels, not invented IANA zones. A composite forecast flag does not establish tide-prediction availability. Resource pointers are not fetched.

{ "stationId": "9414290", "startDate": "2026-10-03", "endDate": "2026-10-04", "units": "metric", "limit": 10, "offset": 0 }Choose explicit real calendar dates spanning at most seven inclusive days and metric or english height units. Predictions use high/low events only, MLLW (mean lower low water) datum and GMT time. Metric heights are metres; English heights are feet. Heights are relative to that datum, not sea-floor depth, clearance or absolute elevation. High/low-only predictions support subordinate stations as well as harmonic stations where NOAA supplies this product.
Each page contains up to ten events at an explicit offset from 0–100. The bounded date-window source response is fetched again for each page and may change between calls. No automatic paging or pinned snapshot. Events retain source decimal heights, minute timestamps and H/L types. Missing predictions are not zero water levels.
Request identity and freshness
The prediction response does not independently echo station, datum, units, time zone or generation time. Output identifies the exact reconstructed request and retrieval time; it does not claim an independently verified or immutable source snapshot. Station metadata and predictions are separate calls. No source generation timestamp is invented, and retrieval time is not the event time.
Use the right product
These are astronomical tide predictions, separate from measured water levels, storm surge, wave height, currents or flood alerts. Weather and other conditions can make actual levels differ. This connector supplies research metadata, with no navigation, vessel-clearance, emergency-monitoring or safety guarantee. Use current official charts, forecasts and safety information for decisions that depend on them. Great Lakes and unsupported stations may have no tide predictions.
Attribution and request bounds
Source: NOAA National Ocean Service, Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS). Preserve source links, request dates, datum, time zone and units. ToolCargo selects and formats metadata; its output is not official NOAA-authored material or endorsement. NOAA information is generally public domain unless annotated otherwise; linked material and individual notices remain separate. Underlying source data are freely available; ToolCargo fees concern hosted access and processing.
Fixed production NOAA metadata/data HTTPS endpoints only, with an identifying application/contact. Requests share an independent provider lease, at least 1.1-second spacing and source-directed cooldown. Each operation fetches one response, bounded to 2 MiB and 15 seconds inside a 35-second deadline. No retries, redirects, result cache, stale fallback, asset downloads, arbitrary URLs or forwarded ToolCargo credentials. Source limits depend on load; no numeric quota or guaranteed availability is claimed.
