NOAA Coastal Tide Research

Live

Inspect a coastal station. Keep datum and time with its predicted tides.

Inspect an exact NOAA CO-OPS coastal station and research predicted high/low tide events over an explicit bounded date window. Heights retain source decimal strings, units and MLLW datum; event times are explicitly GMT.

What it helps you do

  • Exact coastal station metadata
  • Bounded predicted high/low tides
  • Explicit datum, units and GMT times

Built for: Research agents comparing coastal tide-table windows and station context.

Example requests

Research tide-table windows at San Francisco

“Inspect NOAA station 9414290, then retrieve predicted high/low tides for 2026-10-03 through 2026-10-04 in metric units. Preserve MLLW datum, GMT times and decimal heights; cite NOAA/NOS/CO-OPS. Explain these are predictions rather than observed water levels or safe navigation guidance.”

Source-linked predicted tide events with station identity, datum and unit context.

Tools

ToolWhat it doesAccess
noaa_tide_station
Inspect an exact coastal station
Inspect one exact seven-digit NOAA CO-OPS station ID: source identity, location, tidal/Great Lakes flags and timezone context. The source forecast flag is not tide-prediction availability. No linked resource fetch. One shared-plan call.Read-only
noaa_tide_predictions
Read predicted high and low tides
Read up to seven inclusive explicit calendar days of high/low tide predictions at one exact NOAA station. Fixed MLLW datum and GMT times, metric or English heights preserved as decimal strings. Up to ten events per explicit local page, offset 0–100. Not observations, storm surge or navigation guidance. One shared-plan call.Read-only

Requirements

  • • Activate Site Audit free and use ToolCargo OAuth or a scoped API key. NOAA’s public data has no provider fee or API credential requirement; ToolCargo shared-plan limits still apply.

Limitations

  • • Exact seven-digit coastal station IDs only; no geocoding, global tide coverage, station discovery or tidal-current records. Metadata flags do not independently prove prediction availability. Great Lakes stations do not provide tide predictions.
  • • Predictions use fixed Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW), GMT and high/low interval. Metric heights are metres; English heights are feet. MLLW is not a universal elevation reference. Source timezone abbreviations are not converted into inferred IANA zones.
  • • Explicit date windows of one to seven inclusive days; at most ten events per local page, offset 0–100. Each page refetches a changing bounded window, not a pinned snapshot. Empty or missing values remain unknown rather than zero.
  • • Prediction responses do not echo station, datum, units or timezone; provenance follows exact reconstructed request parameters. Source generation/update time and revision are unavailable. Metadata and predictions are separate source requests.
  • • Independent provider lease, at most one upstream fetch per operation, completion spacing of at least 1.1 seconds, respected source cooldowns, 35-second operation budget, 15-second response timeout and 2 MiB response cap. No automatic retries, redirects, cached/stale results, observations, alerts, storm-surge forecasts or navigation guarantees.
  • • Source: NOAA/NOS/CO-OPS. NOAA requests attribution for redistributed material; exceptions to public-domain reuse may be annotated at source. ToolCargo selects and projects metadata without NOAA affiliation or endorsement.
