Linear official MCP server setup
Triage existing issues without changing their status.
Connect your AI client directly to Linear. This is a vendor-operated server, separate from ToolCargo’s hosted connectors. A ToolCargo key or subscription does not grant access to it.
Connection URL
https://mcp.linear.app/mcpUse a client that supports the vendor’s remote transport and authentication. Consult the official Linear instructions for your client’s current configuration.
Account and permissions
Authorize your Linear account through your MCP client.
A compatible remote MCP client and access to the relevant Linear workspace. Use the primary Streamable HTTP endpoint for new setups.
Choose the smallest account access needed. The example below requests read-only work; wording alone does not prevent writes. Review the tools, granted permissions and your client’s approval settings.
Set up and check a small result
- Add the official Streamable HTTP URL to your client and follow Linear’s authentication instructions.
- Authorize the intended workspace and inspect the tools and access available to your account.
- Read a small issue sample and compare issue IDs, titles and statuses against the Linear UI before relying on the summary.
Try this workflow
Read at most 10 open issues from my selected Linear project. Group by current status and show issue IDs and titles. Do not create, update or close issues. If access is denied or data is missing, check the selected account, resource permissions and vendor limits before retrying. Keep record or node references so you can verify the answer in the original application.
What has been checked?
Vendor documentation checked 2026-10-06. ToolCargo has not authenticated an account or verified an end-to-end call for this guide. Provider plans, permissions and rate limits still apply; directory discovery does not make the provider service free.
